The first of three St Andrews Legacy events in 2017 took place in May and it featured a meeting with Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, outside the Royal and Ancient Golf Club just after he finished a round on the Old Course, an appropriate venue given the club’s encouragement to St Andrews Legacy.

The St Andrews Legacy event of April 2023 took place with a great absence at its heart. Graham Proctor, who founded St Andrews Legacy in 2013, could not see his inspiration achieve its tenth anniversary milestone, having tragically passed away from Motor Neurone Disease, or ALS, on 2 May 2020.

The long-standing friendship between St Andrews Legacy and American Lake Veterans Golf Course, which dates back to late 2013, was further strengthened in 2025 when representatives of the Jack Nicklaus designed facility in Washington State joined fellow US and British men in Scotland for a week of golf and camaraderie.
